The purpose of the Children’s Day is to remind all adults of their responsibility towards children. The Children’s Day in India is celebrated on the 14th November — the birthday of late Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru.
The theme for this year as suggested by the International Union for Child Welfare is “Children and Peace” with the sub-title “How programmes for children contribute to the world’s peace”. Programmes that meet the needs of children at every stage of their development are the best possible- contribution to the world’s peace. The children of today are the citizens of tomorrow and with them lies the future of mankind. Healthy and happy children are our strongest foundation.
The Indian Posts and Telegraphs Department is happy to join in these celebrations and to bring out a stamp on this occasion.
