The stamps in this folder commemorate a century of progress of the Indian Railways. Printed by photogravure on all-over 5 pointed watermark paper, the stamp is horizontal in design measuring 1.6" X 0.95". Perforation 14: Set 200. It is the second in the series of India Postage commemorating a century, the first being the Geological Centenary issue brought out in 1951. There are many other countries in the world, which have brought out special postage stamps with railroads as their theme.
