In the 2nd series of Postage Stamps, the effort of Indian people to build a new and healthy India is expressed through symbolized stamps of various aspects of Five Year Plan. The series comprised of 18 stamps from 3p to 19 Rs. and was issued on 26-1-1955.

Folders of 8 pages were issued in two languages viz. English and Hindi. In the Folder they were classified with various aspects of Five Year Plan viz. (1) Agriculture & Multipurpose projects (2) Health (3) Cottage Industries (4) Industry (5) Rare Earths and (6) Transport & Communications. First Day Cover was also issued showing Figure of '5' presenting various developmental Projects within its body; legend on top Five Year Plan in Hindi & English and at bottom First day Cover/26th January 1955/ Republic day)/ Indian Posts & Telegraphs.
