The Indian Air Force, which has given a good account of itself in defending the country in recent years, celebrated the Silver Jubilee of its inauguration on 30th April, 1958. To mark the occasion, a set of two stamps, showing a 'Wapiti' fighter aircraft, used by IAF in its early years, and a modern Hunter jet fighter-plane, was issued.
