Sohrab Modi (Sohrab Merwanji Modi
2.11.1897 - 28.1.1984
Was a Stage Film Company in 1935; launched Minerva Movitone Company in 1936 which was famous for the trilogy - Pukar (1939), Sikandar (1941) and Prithvi Vallabh (1943). His other famous movies are Jailor (1938), Bharosa (1940), Parakh (1944) and Jhansi-ki-Rani (1953).
His last famous movie Mirza Ghalib (1954) received President's Gold Medal in 1954; was a member of the jury at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1960.
Received Dada Saheb Phalke Award in 1980.
