Chakrasana or the wheel pose is a backward bending yoga asana. Chakra in Sanskrit means wheel. In chakrasana, the final position looks like a wheel, hence the name. It gives great flexibility to the spine. This pose is extremely beneficial for those who sit long hours in front of the desk or computer as they usually hunch over the desk all day long. This pose also helps in toning and strengthening the entire back muscles. In women it helps tone the pelvic region. A variation of this asana is Eka Pada (One-Legged) Chakrasana in which one leg is lifted into the air.
